I was asked this by a friend on Friday night.
I was in a car accident on 11/14 and life has been a hot mess ever since. I have whiplash and a sprained wrist. It sidelined efforts to write my novel, find a new place to move, and I missed a week of work. I’m supposed to move next week and only three boxes are packed. Friends will pack the rest and move me. How humbling. I haven’t blogged or sent out a new Reiki newsletter for You Deserve Reiki. This is my first day back to blogging!
My November specials are extended, btw.
I’m not 100% but I am good enough to type some today. So to answer my friend’s question, “When is all that Reiki going to start working on you?”
Usually, I ignore skeptics or those who throw shade Reiki’s way. I ask that only interested parties whom I am equipped to serve come my way. I choose to spend my time in a positive space.
But there is an answer to this question. The answer is the Reiki has been working on me the whole time! I’ve chosen to use a few modalities in treating my whiplash and sprained wrist (as well as a torn neck ligament). They are:
Each has its own purpose. Friends have done massage and Reiki on me. Alita did Quantum Touch on me in the beginning (via distance) and it was tremendously helpful! Massage was OK; I was still a little tender. I’m also at the chiropractor’s office three times a week.
I always tell people with Reiki I do not promise a miracle. I won’t lay my hands on you and have you jump off the table like, “I am healed!” It does offer relief and relaxation; I always tell people Reiki will relax you. The only miraculous healing I experienced with self-Reiki personally was a complete and total healing of my shin splints one day. I have yet to miraculously heal my wrist sprain, whiplash, and torn neck ligament. I’m not ruling it out!
I think skeptics think Reiki and “all that new-agey stuff” is supposed to heal instantly or it’s bunk. It doesn’t work that way. (Not all the time, though many will tell you of spontaneous healing and other forms of instant gratification).
I can only speak of my personal experience in my own healing. This car accident brought forth so many things that need to be healed! I have whiplash in my neck; that is my throat chakra needing healing. It is my center of communication, my voice, my need to speak up for myself. There are life issues surrounding that chakra which require my healing. That doesn’t mean I won’t be using ice packs and chiropractic to heal my spine. But if I want to get the job done right, I’ll have to work on setting the throat chakra straight as much as my doctor is setting my spine straight.
What does a wrist injury mean metaphysically? It means it’s time to let go. I am now having to look at things, ideas, people and situations I need to let go of in order to heal. This is part of what heals a sprained wrist in addition to the aforementioned energy healing arts.
If you are intrigued by this idea of the issues being in the tissues, go pick up a copy of Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life.”
I have more to say on this topic, but my wrist is tiring out. So I will write more later. Thank you for reading and following my Reiki practice and healing!
