Here’s how it works:
- You need a jar and paper at the most basic level. Doesn’t have to be hard or expensive!
- Write the year on the jar. (Tape a piece of paper on it or use paint or a sharpie).
- Keep the papers handy. You will write down moments you are grateful for all through 2015, to be opened and read on 12-31-15. It can be small pieces of paper, scraps, sticky notes — whatever!
A couple hints…
The 2013 jar is bigger and so are its papers inside! My 2014 jar is filled with odd, tiny scraps. They are stuffed in there so hard! Back to a bigger jar for 2015. I’m aiming to have so much to be grateful for that the jar will have to be upgraded during the year! Yes, I painted my 2014 jar with nail polish. It was all I had around. It works! Do it and enjoy!
The reason to do a gratitude jar is because being grateful is one of the five Reiki precepts.
Be grateful each day. Count your blessings. Make a gratitude list daily and see how fast your life changes!
My 2013 jar contains many fabulous moments, like the running of my first half marathon, my first marathon, the day I purchased my Reiki table, the day the radio station I worked at received tremendously good ratings — all those red letter moments!
Just remember: gratitude is a practice.
My 2014 jar has gratitude in it for Shocker wins and clean socks. Make it your own!
