A pause from the Reiki business to focus on self-care

I’ve been preaching self-care for years.

No, this does need mean I’m going to brow-beat you for not getting regular Reiki treatments or massages or mani/pedis. This does not mean I am going to argue with you when you tell me the old standby of, “I know I need to but…” What excuse have you for not engaging in proper self-care? Why are you telling it to me? Tell it to yourself. It’s your self-care regime. Stand in front of the mirror, look yourself in the eye, and make the excuse to yourself and see how deep that resonates. Maybe it will bring something up for you.

I’ve been practicing what I preach. I’ve sought balance.

I’m a person in recovery. I’ve been working in the field of addictions for a year now. My 40-hour workweeks consisting of helping others in their time of extreme need have left me worn out. I have found in this job that I am highly selective of how I spend time care-taking and helping others in my time off. I still wish to do Reiki on clients who are seeking spiritual growth, relaxation, and pampering. I just want to make sure I do it a lot less in order to take care of myself first, others last.

So I’ve been absent from the Reiki room and Alternative & Holistic Fair and that’s why. For now, I’d like to move my efforts more towards self-study of Reiki, participating in Reiki shares, limited teaching and Reiki sessions, and creating online content so that I write and create more.
